[She’d spent four months in prison. Four months with the same outfits, the same food, the same people, the same routine. Day in and day out. And that was after only a few months of freedom after waking up from a coma. It had reached the point where she wasn’t really sure what normal was, anymore. Hell, one night she’d had a dream about trying on clothes and, when she woke up, she almost thought she’d cry. Or maybe punch something. Talk about a laugh.

Luceti might be a prison, but it was a hell of a lot more “free” than she’d been in awhile. She should have been out on the town...living it up and learning what it meant to be on her own again.

Instead, she’d barely left the apartment she’d claimed for herself. She’d stocked up on junk food, grabbed a bundle of clothes from All Passions, a handful of books from the library...and just stayed in. She would have preferred a TV but, well, she’d gotten used to that being scarce, too.

She only really left to patrol, and then she tried to be careful to avoid Buffy or any of her pals that might recognize the once-rogue Slayer. Solitude and near-silence, for almost a month, exploring her new prison until the wee hours of the morning, and sleeping well into the afternoon the rest of the day. Her run-in with Buffy and the following dusting of Drusilla, though, changed something. It finally nudged her away from the lingering apathy and towards something a bit more...well...her.

Squinting out at the sunny afternoon outside her window, Faith finally flips open her journal and actually takes the time to address anyone listening]

So...sayin’ a girl wants something to punch around here... what’s it take to figure out this battle dome thing people’ve been talking about?

[if she gets any bites, the first part of her day will be spent at the battle dome, releasing some of the pent up energy that’s been building since her arrival. After that, she’ll be returning the clothes that didn’t fit to All Passions (she hadn’t been particularly careful when Amelia brought her there, that first night), and trying on a whole mess of new things. Girl’s gotta look her best, after all, if she’s gonna check out the night life.

That evening, she’ll swing by Cloud Nine to see what the fuss is about, before patrolling takes her out by the barracks and down by the ocean. And, this time, she might actually stop to get to know some of the locals.]

[ it's a small town. buffy's in all passions, picking through a rack that's been wheeled out to the front of the store. hell, the rack even has her name taped onto it. one of the first windfalls of this place had been making friendly with the local designer -- it came with all sorts of fashion perks.

buffy's shrugging into a long jacket when she turns and catches sight of the other slayer. ]

Huh.

[Well, she might run into Sparrow down by the docks. He is sitting with his feet swinging off the edge of the southernmost one, eating crackers and contemplating the Joanna. She's a beautiful boat, the Joanna. Jack is still plenty beat up from his kidnapping but he's healing; probably looks a great deal better than the first time they met.]

Mostly the ability to resist the urge to shoot it when it doesn't work.

[Archie dresses a little differently to go to work. Tonight he's in a white button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up (the trick, he realizes, is to treat the shirt more like a sleeved waistcoat and wear an "undershirt" underneath) and a pair of black slacks. The only indication of his old-fashioned-ness is the long hair tied back in a queue and clean-shaven face. When Faith arrives, he's mixing up a quick martini for someone at the bar, occasionally glancing toward the stage. Live music would make this place a good place to work if nothing else did. He's glad now that Kay Eaton drafted him into waiting tables almost a year ago.]

It depends on how well you know your technology. Take myself, for instance--mastered it in sixty seconds. [Is that hyperbole? It is a mystery.] Most people--it takes a few hours to get the basics. Weeks to really get the nitty-gritty of it.

It also depends on what you want to punch.

[stepping out of the dressing room, she had a handful of clothes she was about to put back on the rack when she catches sight of Buffy and freezes.]

[she might be feeling a bit more social, but she's still not feeling particularly interested in starting conversations.

This guy, though...this guy she recognizes. After all, he was kinda hard to miss.

Hands tucked in the pockets of her jacket, she slows as she gets closer]

Think I can handle that part. I'm more of a punch and stab kinda girl, anyway.

[it wasn't LA...but it wasn't completely lame, either. Decent enough for a wacky zoo-cum-refugee camp.

Nodding along to the beat, she meandered through the club...just taking in the setting...before making her way to the bar. Crossing her arms on the counter, she leaned forward as she watched Archie, waiting for him to finish the order he was on. She wasn't intentionally drawing his attention, but the leather pants, low-cut top under her jean jacket, dark makeup, and pose were all little, automatic gestures. Look at me. Notice. React.

When he had passed the drink off to the last customer, she raised her chin slightly, beckoning for his attention.] Yo.

[one eyebrow arches at that] I'm not feelin' really picky.

Guess that makes you some kinda tech wiz, then?

Probably gonna need the second. I'm not really the reading type.

[she wasn't really a people person, either, but she'd have better luck with a lecture than a book.

[Amelia wouldn't see the shrug, but she'd definitely hear it] I'm at my place, but if it means I get to waste something, I'm game for anytime.

[ she shrugs back out of the jacket. ] I see you've found the hippest clothing joint in town.

Yeah...kinda stands out.

[she shifted uncomfortably, still holding the clothes she'd meant to put back]

You're lookin' good.

[for fighting off Drusilla, she means. There actually was context to the compliment, at least] Guess you can still handle yourself. [without help from me]

Now works. You're probably closer than I am. [Considering Amelia's on the opposite side of the village, it's a safe assumption.]

You heard, huh?

[ she tosses the jacket over the rack. ] I'm not so long in the tooth. Not yet. Not that it was exactly easy.

[ she scratches at a mostly faded cut on her cheek. it barely looked troubling. ]

I got a peek of it with the tour. [the one she gave herself] I'll be there.

[Yes. Yes, all of that does get his attention. His eyes widen when he sees her, and then he glances away shamefully before rearranging his features into a semblance of collected-but-still-trying-not-to-giggle.]

Yes, miss?

Something like that--though, I prefer the term 'genius industrialist superhero'. Or some variation thereof.

[He loves when the conversation becomes about him.]

[One eyebrow arched at his expression, her mouth curling up in amusement.

Kinda nice to know she still had it. ...And really, with a reaction like that, she couldn't help it]

Gee...if I'd known the bartenders were gonna be this cute, I'da come by earlier.

[Archie bites his lips, face going so red he might possibly explode. He has to remind himself that he's taken.]

I'm a Scot. Everything is...I keep very good spirits here. [Another shade redder, and an embarrassed giggle threatens to bubble out.]
